Bellator 21 Weigh-ins: Curran-Imada Official

Pat Curran checked in at 155.5 pounds for his 2010 Bellator Fighting Championships lightweight tournament final against Toby Imada (155.5) at Bellator 21 on Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

Co-headliners Megumi Fujii (118.5) and Sarah Schneider (119.5) also made weight without incident at Friday’s official weigh-in.

Curran will carry a three-fight winning streak into the match. The 22-year-old Adrenaline MMA veteran stunned pre-tournament favorite Roger Huerta in May, as he outpointed the former UFC standout and Sports Illustrated cover boy in a unanimous decision victory at Bellator 17. Curran has been finished only once in 14 fights as a professional. The cousin of UFC and World Extreme Cagefighting veteran Jeff Curran, he debuted in 2008 with a submission victory against former King of the Cage champion Tony Hervey.

The well-traveled and seasoned Imada, a 2009 Bellator finalist, submitted Carey Vanier with a second-round armbar in May. The 31-year-old has posted 11 wins in his last 12 bouts and owns notable victories against American Top Team’s Jorge Masvidal and WEC veteran James Krause. Imada’s standing inverted triangle choke submission victory over Masvidal became an overnight sensation on YouTube.

The Curran-Imada winner will earn a shot at Bellator lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. Imada submitted to a rear-naked choke from Alvarez in the 2009 final.
