Miguel Cotto vs. James Kirkland Event Canceled
Representatives from both HBO and Roc Nation Sports announced late
Thursday afternoon that the Miguel Cotto vs. James Kirkland event
set for Feb. 25 has been canceled.
Kirkland has been removed from the bill after suffering what the slugger’s team revealed as a fractured nose in training, rendering him completely unable to fight. Without attempting to salvage the card by allowing Cotto, a five-time world champion, to fight a late replacement foe, the promoters have opted to scratch the entire event.
The HBO Pay-Per-View card was slated to be held at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. Anybody who has purchased a ticket to the event will be granted a full refund.
