Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor PPV Priced at $99.95 for High Definition Broadcast

Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor's forthcoming clash is a guaranteed spectacle and now it's officially got the spectacular price to match.

The pay-per-view presentation of Mayweather-McGregor, which is scheduled for Aug. 26 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, will be priced at $89.95 in standard definition and $99.95 for the high definition broadcast. The Los Angeles Times' Lance Pugmire was first to report the news on Monday. A spokesperson for Showtime Sports, which has been Mayweather's PPV home since 2013, confirmed the pricing to USA Today Sports.

It is nearly the same PPV price that was set for Mayweather's last mega fight, his May 2015 “Fight of the Century” versus Manny Pacquiao. Mayweather-Pacquiao generated over $400 million in revenue, largely behind its $99.99 high definition price tag. Mayweather's September 2013 bout with “Canelo” Saul Alvarez was $74.95 for the HD broadcast.

“I would have to assume it’s going to be more like the Pacquiao price,” said UFC President Dana White opined in June.

“When you talk about superfights, this is a superfight: two different guys from two different sports going in and putting it on the line,” said White. “Obviously, you can’t charge what you would normally charge for a pay-per-view.”
