Brandon Vera to Fabricio Werdum: ‘Just Come on to One, Stop Playing Around’

One Championship heavyweight titleholder Brandon Vera expects to compete against recent addition and 2012 Olympic wrestler Arjan Bhullar the next time he steps into a cage. However, it seems he already has his next challenger in his sights, provided he can retain his belt: former Ultimate Fighting Championship titleholder Fabricio Werdum. Now a free agent, Werdum made it known that he covets Vera’s crown and a chance to defeat him for a second time.

“Well, I welcome it,” Vera told Sherdog.com. “I heard a rumor that he was going to be coming. Good luck with whatever you’re doing. I know you like to talk a lot of smack, Fabricio. I know. Just don’t forget [that] before that fight was stopped early [at UFC 85], I clipped you, son. I clipped you right in your mouth. Your legs went weak and you danced on the cage, so remember, I’ve been lifting weights since then. Just come on to One, stop playing around. Stop trying to negotiate. There’s nowhere else you need to be anyways. You already said it. You wanted this belt.”

In this exclusive interview, Werdum looked ahead to his eventual showdown with Bhullar, touched on his October loss to Aung La N Sang at light heavyweight and provided his thoughts on the idea of One Championship co-promoting with other organizations.
