Troubled Youth Led PFL Challenger Series’ Louis Brewington to Discover MMA

On Friday, PFL Challenger Series 7 will feature 10 contestants, all of whom will be making their professional mixed martial arts debuts. The event is headlined by Louis Brewington, who is set to lock horns with Andrija Stankovic. In a recent talk with Sherdog, the 31-year-old talked about his troubled youth, which led him to join a gym and discover first boxing and then MMA. It was love at first sight for the “Real Deal,” who now hopes to score a victory in his first pro fight in addition to signing a contract with the Professional Fighters League.

“I used to be in school and I used to always get in trouble by fighting all the time so I used to hang around the wrong crowd. In Miami, Florida, where I’m from like that’s what we’re known for, fighting. If somebody disrespects you, you just go out there in the backyard of someone, and y’all just go hit, or y’all go in the streets whatever y’all at, y’all go fight. Bathrooms sometimes. I used to always get in trouble. Me, getting in trouble all the time I used to be like, ‘Man, I got to find a way to make this [change], I’ll turn a negative situation into something positive.’”

Brewington also opened up about his passion for muay Thai, his goal to score a knockout, the origin of his nickname, and more.
