The freshly-crowned 125-pound Ultimate Fighting Championship king shares a message of hope for all.

The co-main event of UFC 263 had seen the rise to glory for Brandon Moreno (18-5-2, 7-2-2 UFC), who submitted Deiveson Figueiredo via rear-naked choke en route to capturing the 125-pound belt. It was the lifetime dream of “The Assassin Baby,” who just three years before was cut from the UFC while on a two-bout skid. However, not only did the 27-year old from Tijuana manage to get a second stint in the UFC, but he also became the first Mexican-born champion in promotion history. Now, he encourages other fighters who are in deep waters never to lose hope.

“What a journey,” Moreno said while talking with Sherdog. “What a life I have. I think my message for everybody sounds like pictures you see on Facebook and social media, but, man, don’t give up. Don’t give up. If the UFC releases you from the company, it is not the end of the day. I promise. I believed in that, I promise. All you need is just to keep working, you know? A lot of sacrifices, a lot of discipline. Take off all [those] bad vibes in your life, and keep working. That’s it, that’s my message. Obviously, it’s very clear and sounds very easy, but when you put that to work, it’s hard. You can do it.”

The clash at UFC 263 was the second time Moreno and Figueiredo locked horns inside the Octagon. Their first encounter was the UFC 256 main event and ended with a majority draw. “The Assassin Baby” stated that he might be interested in a potential trilogy with his Brazilian opponent, but not at the moment.

“To be honest, I’m not interested into an immediate trilogy with him,” he added. “The fight was very dominant by my part, but you never know the future.”
