Leduan Barthelemy Stops Reynaldo Blanco in 9th

Cuban prospect Leduan Barthelemy remained unbeaten on Tuesday night with a terrific performance against Reynaldo Blanco. Barthelemy stopped his foe in the ninth of the main event of the latest edition of PBC on FS1’s “Toe-To-Toe Tuesdays” card, which was held inside Robinson Rancheria Resort and Casino in Nice, Calif.

The younger brother of two-division world champion Rances Barthelemy, Leduan was his normal self; moving gently from side to side while avoiding punishment and countering beautifully. Blanco eventually got his offense going, but virtually everything he threw at the Cuban was either deflected, dodged or absorbed. Barthelemy’s jab set up sizzling combos and his movement gave Blanco fits.

With the fight well out of reach, Blanco (14-4, 8 KOs) needed to turn things around down the stretch, but he was never allowed to. A series of blistering rights to the head wobbled and then dropped Blanco early in the ninth, and when he climbed back to his feet, Barthelemy closed the show. Barthelemy (13-0, 7 KOs) swarmed his adversary with a barrage of punches until Blanco’s corner threw in the towel. The end came 90 seconds into the ninth.

Kyrone Davis (12-1,5 KOs) edged previously-undefeated Marcos Hernandez (9-1, 2 KOs) via split decision in the super welterweight co-feature. The battle was set at a high pace and the two landed dozens of clean punches to the head and body throughout and it was about as close as they come. Davis had a point deducted in the seventh for repeated low blows. In the end, though, one judge had it for Hernandez 95-94, but that score was offset by the two others who saw it 96-93 in favor of Davis.

Malcom McAllister (9-0, 8 KOs) picked himself up off the canvas in the sixth to earn a unanimous decision win over Alejandro Torres (9-2-2, 4 KOs). McCallister controlled the pace from the start and won handily via tallies of 58-55 on all three judges’ scorecards.
