By the Numbers: UFC 315

Jack Della Maddalena made the most of his golden opportunity.

Tabbed as the next man up at UFC 315 when Shavkat Rakhmonov was unable to face Belal Muhammad, the Aussie proved he was more than just a fill-in, as he claimed the welterweight throne with a thrilling five-round verdict over “Remember The Name” at the Bell Centre in Montreal on Saturday night. Not only did Della Maddalena show his usual skill and composure on the feet, but he was able to limit the majority of Muhammad’s attempts to wrestle. Now, it’s possible that the 28-year-old will find himself in a superfight against Islam Makhachev in his first championship defense later this year. Muhammad, meanwhile, saw an 11-bout unbeaten streak that began in April 2019 come to an end.

Shevchenko retained her flyweight belt with a five-round verdict over Manon Fiorot in the evening’s co-main event.
