Paddy Pimblett Rips Charles Oliveira for 'Half Embarrassing' Performance at UFC 317
Paddy
Pimblett wasn’t impressed with Charles
Oliveira’s performance against Ilia
Topuria at UFC
317.
Oliveira fought Topuria for the vacant lightweight title in the main event at UFC 317 last weekend in Las Vegas. After studying Oliveira’s style, Topuria vowed to knock him out in the very first round. “Do Bronxs” walked forward as predicted by Topuria, who took less than two and a half minutes to put him to sleep.
Pimblett, who was in attendance at UFC 317, was surprised by
Oliveira’s approach. “The Baddy” questioned Oliveira’s game plan of
going toe-to-toe on the feet against a knockout puncher. While
Pimblett likes Oliveira, he found the former champ’s performance to
be amateurish against Oliveira.
Pimblett has long been beefing with Topuria over comments the Liverpudlian made about the champ’s home country of Georgia. Topuria called out Pimblett after his title win at UFC 317, and the two had a face-off inside the Octagon. Undefeated in seven UFC outings with five finishes, Pimblett could be the next title contender at 155 pounds.
Meanwhile, Oliveira has dropped three of his last five, starting with his title loss to Islam Makhachev.

Pimblett Confused by Oliveira’s Game Plan Against Topuria
“I really like Charles but what the f—k was that game plan, lad?
Stand in front of him and get punched in the face… I would love to
know what their game plan was,” Pimblett said on the "Verse Us" podcast. “Because that was just half
embarrassing… What are you doing just standing in the middle and
swinging punches with him when he’s a top class boxer and he’s got
power? It blew my mind that how stupid he could be after that was
his 47th pro fight, and he was going in there like an amateur.”
