UFC Fight Night 174 Medical Suspensions: Four Fighters Facing 6-Month Terms

Yana Kunitskaya is one of four athletes from UFC Fight Night 174 who are facing a potentially lengthy time on the sidelines after Saturday’s card.

Kunitskaya, who defeated Julija Stoliarenko via unanimous decision in a featured 135-pound affair, must have an MRI or her neck and right arm and if positive, must be cleared by an orthopedic doctor or she will be out until Feb. 5. At a minimum, the Russian bantamweight is suspended until Aug. 30 with no contact until Aug. 23.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission released a full list of medical suspensions from the event to mixedmartialarts.com. UFC Fight Night 174 took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas and saw Derrick Lewis defeat Alexey Oleynik via second-round knockout in the evening’s main event. Oleynik is suspended until Sept. 23 with no contact until Sept. 8 due to lacerations on his left eye and lip, while Lewis emerged with a clean bill of health.

Three other competitors from Saturdays card are facing potentially lengthy medical suspensions pending doctor clearance: Scott Holtzman (left orbital floor fracture); Peter Barrett (left ribs) and Irwin Rivera (right hand and wrist).

Alexey Oleynik: Suspended until Sept. 23; no contact until Sept. 8 due to lacerations on left eye and lip.

Chris Weidman: Suspended until Sept. 8; no contact until Aug. 30 due to hard fight.

Omari Akhmedov: Suspended until Sept. 8; no contact until Aug. 30 due to laceration under right eye.

Darren Stewart: suspended until Sept. 8; no contact until Aug. 30 due to laceration on left scalp.

Yana Kunitskaya: Must have MRI of neck and right arm, if positive must be cleared by orthopedic doctor or no contest until Feb. 5; miniumum suspension no contest until Aug. 30, no contact until Aug. 23.

Beneil Dariush: Suspended until Sept. 8; no contact until Aug. 30.

Scott Holtzman: Must have left orbital floor fracture cleared by maxillofacial surgeon or no contest until Feb. 5; minimum suspension no contest until Sept. 23, no contact until Sept. 8.

Tim Means: Suspended until Aug. 30; no contact until Aug. 23.

Kevin Holland: Suspended until Aug. 30; no contact until Aug. 23 due to laceration on left eye.

Joaquin Buckley: Suspended until Sept. 23; no contact until Sept. 8 due to laceration on left eye.

Nasrat Haqparast: Suspended until Sept. 23; no contact until Sept. 8 due to lacerations on left eye.

Alex Munoz: Must have laceration under right eye cleared by doctor or no contest until Sept. 23; no contact until Sept. 8.

Wellington Turman: Suspended until Oct. 8; no contact until Sept. 23.

Peter Barrett: Must have x-ray of left ribs, if positive must have orthopedic doctor clearance or no contest until Feb. 5; minimum suspension no contest until Sept. 8, no contact until Aug. 30.

Irwin Rivera: must have x-ray of right hand and wrist, if positive must have orthopedic doctor clearance and possible left corneal abrasion cleared by ophthalmologist or no contest until Feb. 5.

Ali AlQaisi: Suspended until Sept. 23; no contact until Sept. 8 due to sutures on nasal bridge.
