Undefeated Julian Erosa to Defend Featherweight Title at CageSport XXII

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Tacoma, WA (11-19-2012) – Current CageSport Featherweight champion, Julian Erosa (9-0) has a lot on the line when he takes on Drew Brokenshire (7-3) at CageSport XXII to defend his title for the first time in the co-main event. Erosa, fighting out of Yakima, WA has become one of CageSport’s biggest stars and steadily becoming a fan favorite.

Halquist Productions’ CageSport XXII is set for Saturday, December 1st at the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma, WA. Tickets are still available and can be purchased through Ticketmaster or at the Emerald Queen Casino box office. Prices start at only $35. Doors open at 6 PM with the first fight scheduled for 7 PM.

Erosa is the type of fighter that fans watch MMA for. When his opponents are on the ground, he tells them to get up. When he finishes victoriously, he runs up the cage and does a backflip. Out of his 9 career victories, 8 of them have been finished before the time has run out.

“I know that Drew is a pretty tough opponent. I’ve got all of the tools it takes to win this fight. This is going to be a war,” Said Erosa when asked about his thoughts on his upcoming fight.

There is no shortage of opportunity for Erosa. Training out of Yakima’s Yakima MMA gym headed by well-respected MMA guru, Rich Guerin, he gets the opportunity to train with current UFC star Bryan Caraway, who also uses the gym and has fought on a CageSport card in the past.

“This is one of the best matchups on paper that CageSport has ever seen. This will be Julian’s toughest opponent yet, and will be a true 50-50 fight,” said CageSport promoter, Brian Halquist.

The Featherweight title was earned by Erosa back in April of this year when he defeated Spokane native, Ryan Mulvihill with an armbar, 1:48 into the 4th round. Erosa’s last fight came in September when he took on Jason Gybels at CageSport XXI, which was televised on ROOT SPORTS in 5 difference states. Erosa was victorious once again when he landed a knockout punch 4:36 into the 1st round. The fight had all of the fans on their feet, which has become a norm in his recent fights.

Julian’s next opponent, Drew Brokenshire, has many believing this is the toughest challenge he will have yet. Brokenshire had a longer amateur career than most, going 17-5 in a span of 4 years. He’s gone 7-3 as a pro. One of those losses came against the highly respected Lee Morrison, and another to current UFC fighter, John “Prince” Albert. Julian’s an exciting fighter. We both aim for the finish and the fans will definitely get what they want to see,” said Brokenshire when asked about his upcoming title fight against Erosa.

CageSport XXII will also feature another title fight when Anthony Hamilton (7-2) takes on Bill Widler (5-3) for the Heavyweight title. Alongside the 2 co-main title fights, 8 other action packed bouts will also take place throughout the night. Featured fights include Craig Jackson (4-2) matching up against undefeated Harrison Bevens (5-0).
